Welcome to Shapwick Runners!

Shapwick Runners is based in Shapwick but has members from across the Poldens, Street and further afield.  We are a small, quiet club, aimed at bringing together local runners.  We are affiliated to UK Athletics. The emphasis of the club is provide a hub for local runners to contact each other and to run together as and when.  Our members include beginner runners, experienced runners, lapsed runners and those with the intention of running who haven’t yet put it into action!

Annual membership of Shapwick Runners cost £20 and includes personal affiliation to UKA (a main benefit of this being reduced entry fees to races) and the chance to win a club place in the London marathon every year.  Those who don’t wish to be affiliated to UKA can pay the reduced club membership fee of £5.

Our regular club run takes place on Sunday mornings, now meeting at the slightly later time of 9 a.m. at the phone box by the cricket pitch in Shapwick.  We usually do a 4.6 mile route round the lanes at a chatty pace, but this varies depending on the preferences of the assembled group.  From time to time we arrange additional group training sessions such as interval training – but due to limited regular take up these sessions tend to happen by personal arrangement amongst members and are therefore sporadic and spontaneous!  We have a WhatsApp group for regular communication.

We have our own club kit – bold orange technical training t-shirts and black long sleeved t-shirts, for sale at £21.50 and £16 respectively.  Stocks are limited (depending on size) but we plan to replenish these sometime in the coming year.

The Shapwick Bunny Hop 2018:  RACE NOW FULL FOR ADVANCE ENTRIES.  LIMITED ENTRIES AVAILABLE ON THE DAY.

This will take place on Easter Monday (2 April 2018).  Our 10th Anniversary event in 2017 generated record entries of 137 runners plus walkers and juniors and we hope to replicate the success this year.
